The author of Auburn’s Unclaimed National Championships is Michael Skotnicki, who graduated from Auburn with both B.S. and M.S. degrees in the 1980’s. He is also a magna cum laude graduate of the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University.
After law school, he accepted a clerkship with the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and then became a staff attorney for three Associate Justices of that Court. After working for the Court for five years he entered the the private practice of law in Birmingham. He was the Chair of the Appellate Practice Group at Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC, in Birmingham, Alabama, where he practiced law from 2001 through 2011. He currently provides appellate brief writing services to small firms and solo practitioners.
